The Paintings of Rosemary Otto
Original, Brilliant, Innovative, Symbolic, Allegorical, Metaphorical, Meaningful, Emotional, Imaginative, all accurately describe the uncensored vision of the world according to Rosemary Otto.
The stream of consciousness that flows freely through Rosemary’s mind is an imagination as vast as the ocean that is depicted in every painting. Her paintings are an imaginative experience that both troubles and delights the viewer. Trees are freed from their natural roots and the branches are filled with symbolism and imaginative figures. A rich and sensuous texture of meaning and emotion exudes in every painting.
“I have this creative method whereby I ask questions of myself; who, what, where and why….The answer comes to me in my head …… that is my creative method and my painting verbalizes my thought process. I work according to the creative method which I formulated in my head. I just paint whatever I think of and I don’t censor it. It emerges one step at a time”
Born in Germany in 1938 of an American mother and a German father, Rosemary came to Lake Worth, Florida with her mother and sister in 1945. Rosemary is an unheralded and as was Van Gogh, a misunderstood, artistic genius. Her style of painting is totally original, unique and captivating.
The image-making power of the mind; the act of creating or reproducing ideally an object not previously perceived; the ability to create such images. Imagination is one of the most advanced human faculties.
